Your Winter Skincare Cleanser Edit
Dry heat from heater vents and cold winds from the outdoors can be a recipe for dry, flakey and tight skin. Often, face washes can strip skin of their oils and moisture, leaving your skin unbalanced and in need of a tall glass of water. It’s important that we take care of skin as the cooler months approach, ensuring the first step of our skincare routine sets our skin up for success.
Makeup removers for dry skin
Dragging a makeup wipe across your face to remove makeup can leave skin unhappy. Tugging and rubbing fragile skin on the face can almost feel like sandpaper. Opting for a more hydrating Gentle Facial Cleansing Oil, or hydrating Cleansing Balm uses oils to melt makeup and dirt away from skin, leaving a hydrated glow that doesn’t compromise the skin’s barrier.
Pro tip: use warm water and a face cloth to remove product post-cleanse.

Are cream or foam cleansers better for my skin?
Cream and milk cleansers can assist dry skin and cause less irritation during the cooler months. Foaming cleansers work best for oily/acne prone skin, whilst cream cleansers and cleansing milks hydrate and soothe due to their emollient properties. The Replenishing Cream Cleanser contains Rosehip, Vitamin C and Shea Butter to create a more supple and brighter complexion. Whilst our fragrance-free Delicate Care Cleansing Milk works best to hydrate skin and reduce the appearance of redness.

Should I be using exfoliators on my face during winter?
Facial exfoliants are an important step in your skincare routine and should not be overlooked during winter. They act as an important step to remove dry, flakey skin cells and allows further application of other skincare treatments to penetrate the skin more effectively. Using a gentler exfoliant like a chemical exfoliant like the Glow Multi-Action Exfoliating Concentrate or the Men Plus Tight and Tone BHA Exfoliant can be a good alternative during winter to avoid over-drying the skin. Reducing the frequency of a scrub to 1-2 times per week can ensure skin is not left red, tight or irritated.

Will double cleansing dry my skin out during winter?
Think of it as double the cleanse, double the chance of hydrating your skin’s barrier. The important step in double cleansing is choosing cleansers that don’t strip skin. Micellar Cleansing Water acts as a great step 1 to remove impurities and makeup from the skin’s surface. For your second cleanse, an Oil Cleanser protects your skin’s natural balance, and the oils work harmoniously with the natural oils that occur on the skin’s surface.

Switching up your skincare to hydrating alternatives will nourish your skin through the cold, winter months. Your skin will thank you for it!
